Without the use of surgery, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is an option for when you want to improve the color and texture of your skin. Frequently noticed on the neck, face, hands, or chest, the visible damage caused by sun exposure can be treated to restore some of this damage. Also, IPL may help if you have brown, red, or splotchy skin because of a health condition. With this in mind, we at Open Door Med Spa would like to shine the light on intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment.
What is IPL Treatment?
With the use of light energy, IPL targets a certain color in your skin. When the skin is heated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells, which helps eliminate the issue you want removed. Also, it can treat a range of skin conditions simultaneously. Added benefits include you may look younger after IPL treatment since your skin tone is more even. Because the light doesn’t hurt other tissue, you can get better quickly.

How Many IPL Treatments to I Need?
To determine how effective IPL works, depends on what you want the treatment to fix.
Redness: After one to three treatments, light can get rid of 50%-75% of broken blood vessels for most people. However, they usually do not completely become eliminated. Treated veins don’t come back, although new veins can develop later. When your condition is moderate to severely, rosacea causes your face and is most effective for people under 40, IPL can be a good alternative to laser therapy.
Sun Damage: You may see 70% less of the brown spots and redness that are the result of ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Hair Removal: Patients with light skin and dark hair often see the most advantages. It may not be effective for those that have dark skin or blond hair.
Acne: Severe acne and the resulting scars can be helped through IPL. On average, patients may need about six sessions before they see a noticeable difference.
